“The End of the World” is a data visualization project for a fiction. The first idea of it came from all the disasters which had happened on the earth so far in 2020 and a piece of 2020 prediction news about a Russian indigo child Boriska Kipriyanovich who claimed himself as a Martian. By research of the death rate of natural disasters, I found the highest death rates of disasters are from black death epidemic and World War II. Combining with the opinions about importance of love and spirit civilization in Boriska’s interviews, my idea of “The End of the World” is creating a fiction about human extinction prediction based on the current disasters and my consideration about the relationship between human-caused disasters and peace.
The final visual solution is a prediction book Boriska Kipriyanovich with a story and data visualization about World War III, and a series of prediction cards following the story and including the visual components in the book. The datas applied in the projects are from the datas of Black death epidemic and nuclear war simulations.
